What is this?
This is an "unoffical" web site being set up and tried out by some of the people who work with the WE Fest country music festival (held each year in August since 1982, near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, USA)... "Unofficial" means this site isn't part of www.wefest.com, or sponsored or "sanctioned" by the people who own and operate the event. Not that we think they'd mind, but we don't want anyone getting the wrong idea (whatever that might be).
"Hello?"
This is one of those "experiments in communications." We wanted to see what happened when we set up a net system to communicate with some of the people we deal with who come to the event, and that they (you?) can use to communicate with each other. The most basic ideas are to: extend the "WE Fest Experience" a little; maybe provide some extra, handy information/tips (about the areas we work in); and maybe even find out a thing or two about ways we could help make that experience even better.
More specifically: Camping
Camping is the (main) area we work with. There are usually right around 20,000 people staying in the 9 WE Fest campgrounds during the event. That's interesting when you consider the population of Detroit Lakes is approximately 8,000, and the population of the entire county is a little less than 30,000. If you've ever been a WE Fest camper, you know a couple of things about it: It's something else; and even though there's always "room for improvement," it works amazingly well. If you haven't had the camping experience, but think you might like to, just click on the wefest.com link above and find out all about making a "reseveration."
The Main Thing
We want to hear from you! We want this site to be "driven" by you and others who've been to WE Fest. That is to say, this page will probably change. If it does, these words will be moved onto an "About" page, and this ho-hum stuff will get replaced with more "timely and interesting" things. As much as possible, we'd like those things to be based on what YOU think, want to know, etc..
We've set up the "Whoop A" forum to make that possible. Use it to let us know what you think (about WE Fest camping in particular), and, by all means, use it to communicate with your WE Fest friends about whatever you feel like. (If you have their e-mail addresses, be sure to let them know about this site!) You've probably already noticed the "Whoopin'" column on the right. Take a look at that. It'll get you started. You can e-mail us directly by clicking the "Contact" link at the top of the page, or by clicking on "the manager" link anytime you're in the forum.
Like we always say, "Have fun, but be cool... Just don't make us come over there and whoopya on outa here!"
Until later,
The Managers

Whoopin'
As it says on the left, we want to hear from you, and we want you to feel free to use this system to communicate with any of your WE Fest friends on the net. We've set up an (excellent little) "online forum" system to make those things possible. If you've used forums in the past, you'll be a duck in water in about 5 minutes... If you haven't, it may take you 15 or 20 minutes to get the hang, but don't worry - it's simple and easy, and we think you'll like it.
Whoop A: The one you want
We've set up 2 forums: "Whoop A" and "Whoop M." They're linked above, and Whoop A is the one we hope you'll use. (Whoop M is a forum campground managers use to communicate with each other about the million and one things that need to get taken care of before the event.) When you get into the Whoop A forum, take a quick look at the "How to use this system (Crash course)" thing you'll find linked there (at the bottom of the list). It'll give you the basics in the shortest possible time.
The Password
The forum's password protected, but in this case, that's no big deal. All you have to do to get the password is click the link below and "Add Yourself" to a mailing list we've set up. We've set up that list to provide a (minimal) "security system": We may change the password periodically and mail the new one to everyone on the list. (Unless we're changing it because somebody's been using Whoop A the wrong way... In that case, that person - or persons - WON'T be getting the new password... Remember: "Have fun, but be cool.") And don't worry. We won't be using the list for anything besides things related to this, and we won't be giving, renting, selling your address to anyone... Once you've added yourself to the list and gotten the password, all you'll need to do to in the future is click the Whoop A link at the top of the page to go there (be sure to bookmark this page).
